In which I finally leave my province

As you might discern from the title, the only times I've left my province since I've been here have been for meetings in Phnom Penh. To rectify that, we planned a trip, just for the sake of a trip, to Battambang!  If you might have noticed from my last post, I'm not the best at being a tourist. That being said, this trip to Battambang was no different. I took about 4 pictures the whole weekend, and my activities mostly consisted of eating, playing on the Internet, swimming, and talking to friends. Well, friends, that is exactly my idea of an amazing weekend.
On Saturday, we got off the bus at about 3:30, unpacked, and headed out to eat. We went to a place called "Cafe Eden," which is owned by a girl from Washington. Possibly the best chicken strips I've ever eaten. And they had homemade ranch dressing!! I'll be going there again. Later that night there was an open-mic night, which a lot of the volunteers from around the country had come to watch. There were a few volunteers who performed, and even our country director and her wife and kids popped in to watch. Later, we headed back to the hotel, and spent the rest of the evening just lounging and chatting on the roof, overlooking the Battambang skyline.

The next morning we found some breakfast, at a small, artsy cafĂ©, where we spent a few hours being Internet drones,

and then went back to the hotel for a nice, long swim in the hot sunshine.

From then on, it was pretty much the same. Enjoying each other's company in the quaint, much less touristy than Siem Reap, town that is Battambang. My last night there I spent skyping with Athena.

And that is all 4 of the pictures I took on my vacation.
